Art-washing the troubles Xinjiang: that’s the only conclusion I can reach after looking at these exoticistic photos and reading the apologetic text. The level of willful ignorance on the part of @PhotoLondonFair is stunning.
I predict the magazine will be pulled in a few weeks. It’s not acceptable to ignore the reality on the ground and pretend that because it’s “art” (if one can call these cliched images art) that it’s exempt from normal standards of decency and responsibility.
